The importance of Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) is widely recognized, and more than 95% of newborns in the United States are now screened for hearing loss. However, many babies who do not pass the screen are lost to follow-up, and there are significant problems linking EHDI systems to diagnostic, early intervention, medical home, and family support activities.
On July 23rd, 2018, Baby's First Test and the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management (NCHAM) hosted an educational webinar about the status of newborn hearing screening in the United States. Dr. Karl White, Director of NCHAM, led this discussion and provided an update on their work as the National Technical Resource Center for all state-based EHDI programs in the US.
